About the Greenport Project

A Vision Coming into Reality

Our Vision

Olympus Greenport SA is a pioneer in the development of Greenports where the production of energy and food is done sustainably and without any negative impact on the environment and society. The company's vision is to build an intelligent circular economy driven by energy production combined with the production of high-tech perishables. The goal is a zero-footprint industry that nourishes the world with produce free of chemicals and pesticides residue and zero-carbon footprint energy.

This vision aims to correct the past, sustain the present, and innovate for the future. The company's ultimate goal is to contribute to a net-zero carbon footprint electricity supply and chemical residue-free food supply world. Olympus Greenport SA believes in setting an example for how the world should approach safe food and energy supply.

Our History

The journey began in 2018, when the owners of Olympus Greenport SA arrived in Greece with their vision for a sustainable future. Their extensive experience in the horticultural industry worldwide provided a solid foundation for innovation.

By 2023, discussions with key political figures in Greece and the European Community, coupled with the acquisition of a 500-hectare plot of land in Kilkis, propelled the vision forward. The Kilkis area, with its favourable climate, ample water resources, and excellent transport links, presented a unique opportunity. The company secured the initial rights to buy the land, convert it to an industrial zone, and coordinate the necessary studies required by the government.

The €1.36 billion investment is recognised as a project of National Importance for Greece, promising economic growth and 3,100 new jobs for the Kilkis region. The project aims to source 60% of its materials and labour locally. Sales of the energy produced will help alleviate the region's electricity shortage, and the produce will reduce import reliance and food miles.

The project is just the first phase of a larger plan. Phase 2 aims to incorporate new waste-to-fuel systems, transitioning from natural gas to green fuels and further minimising the environmental footprint. A green hydrogen factory, a green data centre, and a biofuel operation are planned for this second phase.

Today, Olympus Greenport SA stands as a symbol of progress, demonstrating the potential of sustainable energy and food production. Each milestone marks progress towards a cleaner, brighter, and more sustainable future.
